How to Clean Candle Jars Ready For Recycling

Prepare your candle jar for recycling with these simple steps using the freezer technique... Place your candle in the freezer, allowing the wax to contract and loosen. Then, turn the jar upside down and the wax should easily detach. For any remnants, tap the base of the jar or use a spoon to help remove any excess wax and remove the wick sustainer. If you have a Bouclé candle, you can then recycle the aluminium lid with your household recycling and the amber glass jar with your glass recycling.

How to Prepare Your Jar Ready For Reusing

After following the steps above as if preparing your jar for recycling, there are a couple more steps to have your jar ready for reusing around the home. To remove the label, soak a cloth in warm soapy water and hold it over the sticker. This will help loosen the adhesive, making it easier to peel off and remove.

Then, wash the jar in warm soapy water to remove any wax residue left behind after the freezer method.

Leave to dry and then you are ready to reuse! Take a look at our post '6 Ways to Reuse Your Candle Jars' for some inspiration!
