This workshop takes place in Ben’s home studio in Kemptown, Brighton. Ben & Louise have spent years perfecting their process using only 100% natural wax, scent, and wicks - no synthetic ingredients in sight.

In this hands-on session, you'll work with Ben to design and pour 3 x 120ml candles in your own signature scent, perfect for gifting or keeping for yourself.

A minimum of 2 people is required to book, and the studio can host up to 4 participants.
Please note: we are unable to run this workshop for just one person.

Daytime and evening slots are available. You’re welcome to book first and arrange your time afterwards, or reach out in advance to check availability.

The class will be held at Ben's home studio which is in Kemptown Village in Brighton.

What will I learn?

This workshop is for beginners & you will receive full guidance from us. All levels of ability are welcome, all you need is a good nose and an inquisitive nature!

We will start by giving you a short presentation on our story, wax types, fragrance types, wick types and essential oils covering base, mid & top notes [over a glass of Prosecco or orange juice & nibbles].

We will then explore the wide range of essential oils that we have to work with before you develop your very own exclusive scent blend working out the perfect ratios to create a balanced all natural scent.

You will also learn how to prepare your amber glass jars, measure out your unique fragrance blends & pour your aromatherapy candles to bring your scent to life!

What do I get for the Price?

The price includes a glass of fizz or orange juice & nibbles, all the materials you need to create your all natural candles as well as guidance from Ben.

Once you have developed your blend you will then use it to scent your own batch of soy wax candles. You can then pour 3 x 120ml of the same scent [perfect gifts for loved ones], made with soy wax dipped cotton wicks & pour them in amber glass jars.

You can then name your scent & we will print your bespoke jar labels & package up your candles in boxes ready for gifting overnight.

Please note: You will need to collect your candles once they are set from the space from the next day or we can post them out to you for an additional £4.

These make unique and thoughtful gifts which you could give to loved ones [or keep for yourself we are all about self-love!]

You can book a maximum of 4 participants at the workshop!

This workshop is for adults over the age of 18.

Please note: You will need to collect your candles once they are set from the space the next day or we can post them out to you for an additional £4.

You will not be sent a physical ticket, please bring your order confirmation with you on the night [either on your phone or printed out].

Cancellation policy

You can cancel the workshop up to 3 weeks in advance for a full refund or up to 1 week before for a 50% refund.

Unfortunatley there is no refund for cancellations made less than a week before the event, however you may pass your ticket onto someone else or send a substitute!

Incredible Candle-making Workshop

My friend and I had the pleasure of attending the Boucle private candle making workshop in Brighton in August and can't recommend it highly enough. Ben instantly made us feel comfortable, talking us through the three sections of the workshop and setting us up in the workshop in his beautiful home. The session itself came complete with all of the equipment and information and a glass of prosecco (soft drinks were available too).
The first part of the workshop involved us smelling and making notes on a vast selection of essential oils. We had forms with the oils listed and split into top, middle and base note oils. Ben spoke to us about each individual oil and gave us examples of combinations he has used in their products.
Once we had finished, we then moved onto the next part of the workshop: creating our own scent profile. Once again, Ben's expertise was invaluable both in terms of what might go together, but also in encouraging us to try unusual and different combinations.
When we had selected our own scents, we then moved to the final section of the workshop which was making and pouring the candles. Ben was on hand to demonstrate how to place the wicks in the beautiful glass jars and also prepared the hot wax, so it was just a case of us mixing the oils and then adding to the wax before pouring three candles. Again, as well as being there to advise, Ben had prepared the information on beautifully printed documents so that we could refer to it and also take it home with us.
Once poured, we left the candles to cool and returned an hour or so later to collect them - all boxed up in beautiful packaging ready for us or for gifts.
The workshop was absorbing and mindful and was a truly inspiring way to spend an hour and a half. Ben was just superb - an expert and a truly lovely person and the whole process was incredible.
As an aside, whilst the candles were cooling, we visited the Boucle shop and would also absolutely recommend a visit for beautiful products and gifts.

Great afternoon making lovely Candles. You get to smell quite a few essential oils and then you pick your favourite.
